I grew up here. Going home and snooping around my old village brings back old memories that trigger new ideas

I can just spend hours here people-watching. There are tons of people, it’s diverse, and it’s great to hang around here, sketching people, and getting character inspiration

 

Bookstores

Kelly & Walsh, Bookazine, Eslite — can’t go wrong. Reading always gets me out of a writer’s block funk, so I like to go there and dip in and out of books to find inspiration when I feel like a creative husk!

 

 

People’s Homes

Is this creepy? I find it fascinating to see how other people set up their living spaces: how they organise shelves or serve food, if they have a fish tank, if they display tchotchkes, if their furniture came from a grandparent. People’s homes are so personal and (in the least predatory way), seeing how people live in their most intimate spaces brings you closer to creating authentic art that resonates with people

 

Shopping Malls Across Hong Kong

I love Hong Kong malls. My go-tos are Cityplaza, Southside, East Point City, Popcorn Mall, and Elements (in fact the whole Western Cultural District). I’m not a big shopper, though. I go because I learn a lot watching how people interact with products, each other, and the space
