Urban Explorer Series: Nathan's Travel Itinerary

“I was lucky to grow up in different countries so I have friends in various cities and all over the world. So, whether it is just visiting friends who live in different countries, I just love hearing their travel stories and I get inspired to visit those places.”

To round out the year, we have invited our December urban explorer Mr. Nathan Clemes, Founder of Unrooted Drinks, to share his 24-hour travel itinerary of his favourite places to visit around London. If you are traveling to London this Christmas, this is the perfect opportunity to take pointers from our man of the hour. Follow his travel itinerary now.

Breakfast at Buns From Home
Just off of Portobello, come visit this eatery for a delicious breakfast! Buns From Home is famous for their irresistible cinnamon buns. Nathan recommends you try their almond bun with coffee. There are 7 locations across London so be sure to make a stop at any one of them!

Walk through Portobello Market

Head to Portobello Market to sift through vintage clothing, antiques, and household goods for hours on end. The market is packed with stalls from Westbourne Grove all the way up to Golborne Road, and across under the Westway out to Ladbroke Grove. Be sure to come earlier so you can beat the crowds!

Shopping at Marylebone

With numerous chic and stylish boutiques in this shopping district located in the West End of London, Nathan’s favourite places to visit are Trunk Clothiers on Chiltern, Conran Shop and Daunt Books – all great spots for browsing and exploring.

Lunch at Lina Stores Soho

Drop by this classic Italian eatery, famed for its classic handmade pasta dishes inspired by their delicatessen. The ground-floor features a 12-seater bar with an open-plan kitchen so you can smell the fresh aromas spilling out, while downstairs offers a cosy restaurant experience as well as an aperitivo bar serving traditional wines and cocktails.

Ice skating at Somerset House

To burn off the extra calories from lunch, head to Somerset House for an afternoon of ice skating. Referred to the locals as “London’s most beautiful ice skating rink”, you can take advantage of the romantic winter season with your loved ones this holiday.

Pre-dinner Drinks at Louie
A favourite of Nathan’s, he recommends you head to the stunning terrace for drinks before dinner. Celebrating the beauty of multiculturalism, its restaurant embraces the soul of New Orleans, the suaveness of Paris and the sass of a New Yorker, all set on London’s stage.

Stroll through Covent Garden

Right before dinner, Nathan suggests you take a walk through the luxurious Covent Garden adorned with beautiful Christmas lights, where you’ll find luxury fashion and beauty stores, award-winning restaurants and theatres. Everything you need under one roof!

Dinner at KOL

Helmed by Chef Patron Santiago Lastra, this one Michelin-starred restaurant features  Santiago’s take on traditional Mexican street foods and indigenous delicacies from across the country. His dishes capture the heart and soul of Mexico using the finest British ingredients.

Drinks at Mezcaleria

Top off the evening with a night cap just downstairs at this mezcal and cocktail bar in the heart of Marylebone. This bar specialises in agave spirits and antojitos, so Nathan recommends you try one of his favourite drinks – the Wahaca Negroni.
