Hong Kong’s Long Standing Eatery – Lin Heung Kui
Every city has its local culinary delights, flavours, and spices that truly represent the origins of that destination. Hong Kong is no exception. Cantonese cuisine is generally rich in flavour, utilizing various soya, hoisin and oyster sauces in its dishes, but most importantly, it is prepared in large portions and served on a sharing plate for friends and family to enjoy together.
Lin Heung Kui, One Of The Oldest Eateries In Town
To truly revel in Hong Kong’s authentic culinary gems and get the most out of this renowned “foodie haven”, one must make a stop at one of the oldest eateries in town: Lin Heung Kui. This established restaurant, dating back to the 1920’s, was awarded the Best Guangdong Restaurant (2013-2015) and listed on the Michelin Guide. In addition to offering classic Cantonese dishes like their signature Ling Heung special duck and a comprehensive menu to choose from, they are famed for their variety of dim sum that has been largely raved about by locals and tourists alike.
Offering a truly unique “yum cha” experience, you will find the waiters pushing around an ancient dim sum trolley, serving up their one-of-a-kind dishes, but do not wait for them to come to you; you must approach the waiter pushing the old school steamer trolley and order from them as soon as you see them as the food runs out faster than you can say “I love dim sum”.
The nearest MTR station to the eatery is Sai Ying Pun Station (Exit A2). It will take approximately 4 minutes to walk from the station to Lin Heung Kui. As you approach the eatery, you will notice the ground floor selling various baked goods and gifts. You will need to walk further in to which an elevator will greet you with a Michelin Guide plaque of the restaurant next to it. Take the elevator up to the second floor and you will arrive at your destination.
